Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus

Buffalo Niagara Medical CampusThe Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Inc. (BNMC) commissioned the renovation of the former Hauptman Woodward Research Building located at 73 High Street, Buffalo, New York. The BNMC commissioned the renovation of the vacant 3-½-story 36,000 square foot facility to accommodate the relocation of their tenant. The renovation included an extensive overhaul of the existing mechanical, plumbing, heating and cooling systems to accommodate laboratory and office environments.

These services were provided by the John W. Danforth Company. Danforth was selected in large due to our ability to provide design, engineering, CADD, HVAC, filtration, sheet metal, temperature controls, commissioning, piping, duct cleaning and plumbing with our own “in-house” personnel. Specific work included the addition of twelve fume hoods, ten biological safety cabinets, and two make-up air units. Mechanical upgrades included: repair and upgrading the existing heating and cooling air-handling systems, as well as installation of new heating and cooling equipment and attendant distribution; new chilled water system; new boiler system; and new exhaust system. Plumbing systems were extensively modified, upgraded, and expanded as well throughout the building to accommodate today’s state of the art laboratory environment.

John W. Danforth successfully completed this project in ten weeks from the time our engineers began design to the pre-established date for substantial completion, and turned the building over to the BNMC for occupancy on schedule.

Danforth is proud to have been part of the successful completion of this project and to continue to remain an active partner in the development of the downtown Buffalo Medical Corridor.
