James Madison School of Excellence
The James Madison School of Excellence, located in Rochester, New York, was opened in 1998 and has an enrollment of more than 1,100 students. James Madison also houses offices of the Southwest Neighborhood Association (SWAN) and the Southwest Community Center. In addition to its classrooms, the school facilities provide six computer labs, an R.I.T. partnered computer aided design (CAD) lab, a gymnasium, lecture hall and an indoor competition swimming pool. Danforth was responsible for the installation of a state-of-the-art Direct Digital Control (DDC) environmental system which monitors and maintains lighting schedules for the facility and all temperature, humidity, static pressure differentials, ventilation and exhaust systems. This HVAC system uses a number of chilled and hot water systems to heat and cool classrooms and administration areas. Each room has its own temperature control module for zone comfort settings.
