Air Duct Cleaning Procedure

JOHN W. DANFORTH COMPANY
AIRDUCT CLEANING PROCEDURE

ALL WORK IS DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARDS OF THE NATIONAL AIR DUCT CLEANERS ASSOCIATION (N.A.D.C.A.)

  • We remove, clean and sanitize all supply registers and return grilles.
  • All vent openings are sealed off to build pressure on our vacuum and to ensure that no dirt and debris enters your home.
  • A large volume vacuum is hooked up to your return plenum at the furnace. This puts the system under negative pressure.
  • After the vacuum is hooked up, an air nozzle is inserted at the register. The line is cleaned from the register to the main trunk in the basement. The line is then visually inspected to verify cleanliness.
  • After all the return lines are cleaned, we cut an access opening in the main duct. The main duct line is first cleaned with a spinning brush that is powered by a drill. This dislodges any debris that has adhered to the ductwork. The ductwork is then cleaned with an air sweep and all debris is moved to the vacuum.
  • The same process is then repeated on the supply side.
  • When all ductwork is cleaned, we then clean the furnace, air conditioning coils, and replace the filter.
  • The system is then sanitized to kill any mold and bacteria.
  • All access openings are sealed with sheet metal covers, screwed every 4” and sealed with duct sealant.
  • Registers are then put back in place.
