Buffalo Sheet Metal Apprentice Recognized for Work at UBSOM

Kevin Kwiatkowski is this month’s Apprentice Highlight. Kevin is a third year sheet metal apprentice in the Buffalo, NY market. Kevin has been working with Danforth for his entire career and is currently working at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine Project, located in Downtown Buffalo, NY.

Kevin and his field crew are working on the fourth floor of the School of Medicine. Kevin has taken on the role of preparing materials and tools for his mentors each day. Kevin is learning to lay out ducting systems throughout the building by observing his crew and participating in the work. He noted that this project is more complex than others in his career because of the volume of workers coming in and out each day. Kevin overcomes this challenge each day by focusing on his work and organizing his work space to reduce any confusion caused by the hustle and bustle of the job site.  When completed, the state-of-the-art facility will create an environment for researchers, clinical care providers, students and faculty to interact and collaborate together.

During his time with Danforth, Kevin has worked on the Niagara Falls Casino project and the Conventus Medical Building project. Kevin aspires to put in his time as an apprentice and journeyman to learn as much about his trade as he can. One day, he would like to become a sheet metal foreman and run work.
