Buffalo’s Erik Latiuk Earns his PE Certification
Buffalo Design Engineer, Erik Latiuk, is the latest Certified Professional Engineer (PE) at Danforth. Erik has been working with Danforth for over five years and has nearly ten years of industry experience. He is a member of Danforth’s in-house engineering team focusing on design-build and energy performance projects for the company. Erik’s recent achievement will help him add more value to the projects he is involved in.
Becoming a PE is not an easy undertaking. Hopeful applicants must complete a four year college degree program from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) school and complete a series of challenging trainings and exams. Erik earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University to meet the first requirement. Applicants are also required to work under a current PE for at least four years. During this time, Erik worked on a number of engineering projects that developed his decision making skills and tested his professional accountability. Upon completion of the mentorship from a current PE, the applicant is then tested on principals and practices of engineering. Being a mechanical engineer by trade, Erik took and passed the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) exam.
By becoming a PE, Erik brings more value to his company, partners and customers. His new designation adds to the prestige of Danforth as a company and shows his serious commitment and passion to his profession. Erik’s training allows him to better collaborate with Danforth’s engineering, vendor and contracting partners to provide the best of practical and economical solutions to our customers. Another benefit to Danforth is Erik’s ability to mentor others. As part of his certification, he is now an accredited educator of engineering and serves as an invaluable engineering resource to his colleagues.
Becoming a Professional Engineer is a symbol of achievement and is a universally accepted standard recognized by the industry. It is a demonstration of Erik’s dedication, skill and commitment to quality. We would like to congratulate our newest on-staff PE, Erik Latiuk.
