Buffalo Public Schools Energy Performance Contract
Owner: Buffalo Board of Education
Buffalo Public Schools Energy Performance Contract – Buffalo, NY
Danforth was awarded the mechanical scope of the Energy Performance Contract for Buffalo Public School #53 located in Buffalo, NY. The contract was part of Phase V of the Board of Education’s citywide Buffalo Public School renovations. All phases committed to a Project Labor Agreement to utilize local Union labor.
The team utilized Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to develop coordination drawings, which depicted diagrammatic layouts of the new improvements. After coordination, Danforth completed the demolition of the School’s outdated heating equipment, rehabilitated existing infrastructure, and installed new equipment including three high-efficiency Clever Brooks ClearFire condensing boilers. The EPC project, coupled with a simultaneous Renovation Contract, which served the remainder of the School, accomplished a complete renovation of the school’s central heating system. The heating system was also converted from hot water to glycol. The result was a modern, automated and energy-conscious system with low maintenance obligations.
Throughout construction, the project maintained compliance with NYSED Regulation 15.5 and contributed to a Development and Diversification Plan for workforce and business enterprises.
