ECMC Chilled Water Improvements Mechanical Contract

Danforth was awarded the mechanical contract for chilled water improvements at the Erie County Medical Center located in Buffalo, NY. This project was completed in two phases due to the facility’s 24-hour operation.

Improvements to the chilled water system included the replacement of existing chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, and cooling towers. The new pumps are controlled by VFDs and a fully automated controls system complete with an efficiency monitor. Danforth also replaced the existing chilled water pneumatic control valves on existing air handling units to new two-way control valves. Phase two of the project involved conversion of the chilled water system to a variable flow pumping system. Danforth installed a new refrigerant monitor system and one new backflow preventer in the chiller plant.

The project work was completed based on project plans and specifications. Danforth was recognized for dedication to safety and open lines of communication with the ECMC staff. NYSERDA grants are being pursued by the owner.
