General Motors – Powertrain Plant 5 Mechanical Contract

Danforth was awarded the Mechanical Contract for the General Motors Powertrain Plant located in Tonawanda, NY. The expansion of this plant serves as a new engine manufacturing facility for many of GM’s sedans, trucks and SUV’s.

Danforth performed demolition and installation work for the new engine line at the plant. Danforth fabricated the piping and ductwork to replace the existing out-dated equipment. This project required the installation of a new system of mist-collecting ductwork as well as modifying the existing system to accommodate the new equipment layout of the engine line.

Danforth utiziled it’s state-of-the-art in-house Pipe and Sheet Metal Fabrication Shops for this project to turn out most of the materials off-site. Once the fabrication process was completed, Danforth transported the duct and pipe to the plant for installation into the existing systems. With this unique offering to Danforth, GM was able to keep Powertrain Plant 5 operational while the project was being completed.
