Hyde Park Ice Pavilion – Niagara Falls, NY

Danforth was awarded the mechanical contract for improvements to the Hyde Park Ice Pavilion located in Niagara Falls, NY. Improvements were performed in the new lobby/concession area, locker rooms and both ice rink areas.

The Danforth team began with demolition of the unit heaters in the ice rinks and the evaporative condenser. A new rooftop unit with ductwork was installed to heat the lobby and a new heat recovery unit with was installed to control the temperature in the locker room areas. The ice rinks were outfitted with two new dehumidification units and air duct and a new hot water boiler and piping was installed to serve the heating coils on the dehumidifiers. Danforth also installed new radiant tube heaters that heat the bleacher areas. Finally, a new ammonia system evaporative condenser and piping was installed to replace the existing system.

Even though there were some Steel layout coordination issues between the existing site conditions and the new plan, Danforth was able to meet the scheduled completion date required by the owner to meet rink rental agreements.
