UB School of Engineering Mechanical Contract

Danforth was awarded the project to construct a new engineering building on UB’s North campus. This building was designed to house the graduate programs for the School of Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The building consists of an ISO class 6 Clean room for microchip design, engineering wet labs, server rooms, faculty offices, and a lecture hall. Systems installed include central air handling systems with 100 Phoenix air valves and 200 VAVs, 240 active chilled beam induction units, boilers, winter chiller, a complete array of laboratory gases, computer room air conditioners including a pumped refrigerant system, clean steam humidifiers, and a fuel oil feed system for the emergency generator.

The team members included MLP Plumbing and Mechanical, Custom Sheet Metal, U&S Services, RP Mechanical, L&D Johnson Plumbing and Mechanical, along with a wide assortment of vendors to provide more than $3,000,000.00 of equipment.

The contract included a target of achieving LEED Gold certification, and in April 2013, the US Green Buildings Council bestowed a Gold ranking upon the Davis School of Engineering.
